You got your MC. You've got a truck, insurance, and you're ready to run. Then you call a broker and hear the same thing over and over: come back when you've got 90 days on the road. Some won't even talk to you until you've been active six months or more.

This isn't a rumor. Most freight brokers apply an informal seasoning requirement because they've had bad experiences with brand-new carriers who weren't ready for commercial loads. The result is a wall that keeps new authorities from getting their first load — and sitting empty doesn't build the experience brokers claim they're waiting for.

Most carriers with a new authority tell us they spend days working the load board, calling brokers who hang up the moment they hear the MC is fresh. Every day parked is a day you're paying for equipment, insurance, and operating authority without any revenue to offset it. That's not a business — that's hemorrhaging money before you've started.

How the new-authority wall compounds

The catch-22 is brutal. Brokers want experience before they'll load you. But you can't get experience without loads. And every week your MC sits idle, you're burning through the capital you saved to start the business — insurance premiums, truck payments, permit fees, and IFTA filings don't stop because you're not moving freight.

Dispatch services that do take new authorities often charge a surcharge for the extra broker-relationship work. Some require a higher percentage, a setup fee, or a minimum commitment. Others just don't tell you upfront, and you find out on your first invoice that fresh MC status costs extra.

The broker relationship problem runs deeper than just the first load. A new authority that doesn't have a dispatcher vouching for it has to build every broker relationship from scratch, one call at a time, while running loads, managing HOS, and handling all the back-office compliance that comes with owning your own authority. There's no shortcut through that — unless you have someone who already has the relationships.

Here's how it works. We pull your authority, verify your insurance, and start sending broker packets the same day you come on board. We don't wait for your MC to season — we work the brokers who take fresh authorities and we vouch for you with them. Our relationships with those brokers are what gets your truck moving before competitors can.

We know which brokers take new authorities on which equipment types, which ones are willing to book a load based on our recommendation before you have a history, and which ones we've worked with long enough that they trust our vetting process. You don't build that network overnight. We've built it so you don't have to.

Every load we present includes the rate, the lane, the commodity, the broker, and a plain-language summary of what you're committing to. You approve it or you don't. We never confirm without your green light. No forced dispatch, no pressure to take a load that doesn't work for your truck or your schedule.

The 5% flat cut — same rate for new authorities

FOMO's dispatch fee is 5% of your linehaul, per booked load. There is no new-authority surcharge. No extra percentage for fresh MCs. No setup fee. No monthly fee. The same 5% flat rate applies whether you got your MC this week or three years ago.

We don't take a cut of fuel surcharge, detention, layover, TONU, lumper reimbursements, or any other accessorial. Every dollar you negotiate beyond the linehaul stays with you. Our 5% is linehaul only — the same way it works for every carrier we dispatch.

You're already spending money to hold an authority you can't use. We don't add to that cost during the weeks you're getting set up. If we don't book a load for you, you don't pay. The 5% applies only to loads we actually book in your authority — zero charges during setup, during home time, or any week you're not running.

We invoice separately for the 5% — typically weekly. Brokers pay you directly through your factor or your own bank. We never ask for your factoring login, banking information, or access to your settlements.

What FOMO does for new authorities that most dispatchers won't

Broker packet submission. When you come on board, we build your carrier packet — insurance certificates, W-9, MC verification, safety rating — and submit it to the brokers we work with. That's what gets you into their system. Without a packet, brokers can't load you even if they want to. We handle this from day one.

Vouching on the first load. When a broker is on the fence about a new authority, a call from a dispatcher they know and trust moves the needle. We've been building broker relationships since 2020. A recommendation from FOMO carries weight with brokers who have loaded hundreds of our carriers successfully.

Factoring setup, same day if needed. Most new authorities aren't set up with a factor yet, and most brokers won't pay on a new MC's bank account without extra scrutiny. We work with TBS, Apex, OTR, RTS, and most major factors. If you need a same-day factoring option, we'll connect you — no referral kickbacks, we don't make money on which factor you use.

After-hours coverage from day one. Your first loads won't always book during business hours. Brokers call with available loads on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning, and Sunday night. Somebody on our desk picks up. If a broker calls with a load that fits your truck and your timing, we don't miss it because it came in late.

What you get when you start with FOMO

Full broker rate confirmation transparency. The unaltered rate con goes straight to you. We don't edit it, we don't skim a spread, and we don't hide what the broker is paying. The rate on your rate confirmation is the rate that hits your factor or your bank.

No exclusivity requirement. You keep every shipper and broker relationship you build yourself. If you find your own freight, you pay nothing on those loads. We only charge for loads we actually book.

A real path to consistent miles. The goal isn't just your first load — it's getting your authority to the point where brokers know your name, your safety record is building, and you're running enough volume to have options.
